Eradicating Racism in Soccer: A Call to Action
This BLOG post was probably the hardest I’ve ever written. As a white male, I haven’t experienced racism towards me very often. I’ve maybe noticed it directed at me a couple of times.
NO- I don’t have all the answers but, I know this needs to stop… NOW!
This week, there were two cases involving racism in MLS one during a game, and one brought to my attention via social media.
On a personal note: I’ve worked with Dominique Badji and I’ll tell you, he’s one of the best people I’ve ever worked with.
It’s just crazy to think that in 2023 we are still dealing with things like this.
Why can’t we celebrate our differences and learn from one another? We can not just sit off to the side and say nothing. Being silent is being complicit.

Being racially abused is a deeply painful reminder of the persistent racism that lingers in our society. Racism has no place in our world. No one should endure such injustice based on their ethnicity or race.

Soccer unites fans and players from every corner of the globe, transcending borders and languages. However, despite its global appeal, the sport has not been immune to the societal scourge of racism. Incidents of racial abuse and discrimination have tarnished the game, highlighting a need for urgent action.
